Your adventure to unspoiled Borneo has you climbing to Mount Kinabalu's highest peak at an altitude of 13,440 feet and appreciating the magnificent scenery on the way. Begin your journey in modern Kuala Lumpur, home to the world's tallest twin towers. Wander the city, sampling the inviting cuisine and shopping. Leave the 21st century behind when you fly to Kota Kinabalu and your resort, located at the intersection of jungle and sea. Drive along the mountains to Kinabalu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to thousands of species of flora and fauna. Trek the foothills and admire the native species from more than four climate zones. Then begin your climb to the grand heights of Mount Kinabalu's highest peak.

Arrive Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Arrive in Kuala Lumpur after an overnight flight. Your expedition guide meets you at the airport and takes you to your hotel, located near the world-famous, 88-story Petronas Twin Towers, with far reaching views overlooking the lush 50 acre KLCC Park.

Kuala Lumpur/Kota Kinabalu, Borneo/Kinabalu National Park
This afternoon, fly to Kota Kinabalu, your starting point for your trek through Kinabalu National Park.
Head into Kinabalu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park boasts one of the most scenic and impressive natural habitats in the world, providing shelter to thousands of species of native flora and fauna from more than four climate zones.
As you trek, you will learn about the hundreds of species exclusive to the park.
Mount Kinabalu National Park (Headquarters) / Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort [ B (Day 2), B L D (Day 3) ]- DAY 4
Kinabalu National Park/Laban Rata
Set out from Timpohon Gate at a height of 6,122 feet and climb 4,608 feet to reach Mount Hut, Laban Rata at an altitude of 10,730 feet. Six shelters along the way serve as rest stops. There are no roads leading to Laban Rata, so porters carry more than 60 pounds of supplies on their backs to the rest house.

Laban Rata/Kota Kinabalu
Depart Mount Hut around 3 a.m. today for the final ascent to the peak of Mount Kinabalu, Low’s Point (13,440 feet). This part of the climb is on pure granite rock. At dawn — about 6 a.m. — you reach the summit and are rewarded with the sight of the sun’s stunning orange glow and a spectacular view of Kota Kinabalu and the South China Sea. Afterward, descend to Timpohon Gate for the overland return to Kota Kinabalu.

Kota Kinabalu/ Depart Kuala Lumpur
Fly back to Kuala Lumpur and relax. The next day, you embark for home.
