  • Activities [ Camping, Climbing, Dog Sledding/Mushing ]

Expedition Timeline

Greenland, for its immense size, has a very small population - less than 60,000 - consisting of mostly indigenous Inuit people. Observe their unique lifestyle - and experience it for yourself - as you travel to frozen fjords and desolate wilderness on dog sleds, watching for local wildlife. You may see Arctic fox, Arctic hare, musk ox, wolf, seal, walrus and polar bear that live amid the magnificent mountains and gigantic icebergs in this cold climate. Spend your nights in an igloo and learn about Inuit culture when you visit the village of Ittoqqortoormiit.

DAY 1

Arrive Reykjavik, Iceland/Scoresbysund, Greenland

Start your expedition in Scoresbysund, Greenland, the longest fjord in the world, where your local guides brief you on the expedition ahead. Your team of sled dogs is waiting outside the airport, and you immediately take off on the frozen fjord to base camp: the Igloo Village. The sled trip takes about four hours; along the way, enjoy the magnificent landscape. Mountains are on one side and gigantic icebergs are on the other. Be on the lookout for the local wildlife.

Before setting out, your expedition leader schools you in bear protocols, including what to do if a bear approaches. While searching for polar bear, you may also see other wildlife, including Arctic fox, Arctic hare, musk ox, wolf, seal and walrus. Before sunset, return to Igloo Village.
