Expedition Timeline

Explore the striking Baja California coast from an exciting vantage point - from the water as you kayak. Paddle to desolate beaches and along looming cliffs jutting into the sky. Observe Baja's unique marine life and fragile rock reefs as you snorkel crystalline waters, and explore pre-historic relics alongside your expert naturalist guide. Each evening, set up camp and drift to sleep to the sound of the Pacific surf in this raw and remote destination.

Day 1

La Paz, Mexico

Arrive at La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, where you are greeted by an A&K representative and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, meet your expert guide for an orientation.

Days 2-3

La Paz/Ensenada Grande Sur/Los Islotes/Ensenada Grande Sur

After breakfast, you head to La Paz marina to start your kayaking expedition. Take a fast boat ride out to Ensenada Grande Sur for camp orientation and an introduction to your kayaks. This afternoon, embark on your first kayaking excursion around this beautiful bay. The next morning, travel to Los Islotes, rock protrusions rising out of the Sea of Cortes, to swim with sea lion pups. Later in the day, hike to the other side of Ensenada Grande Sur for breathtaking views of its east coast as you stand on 100-foot-high cliffs.

Days 4-5

Candelero Bay/Ballena Island

Kayak to the pristine Candelero Bay and snorkel around the bay’s many islets, viewing unique marine life around rock reefs while the crew sets up camp. The next morning, paddle to Ballena Island where you hike to see pre-Hispanic Baja ancient cave paintings.

Day 6

Coralito Bay/La Paz

Kayak to Coralito Bay and spend the rest of the morning snorkeling at the base of the Cathedral Cliff, which towers over spectacular coral beds. Intrepid free divers can attempt to swim down 45 feet for a view of the sunken Chinese junk boat, now home to an underwater world. Afterward, continue on to La Paz by boat and enjoy a farewell dinner with your expedition team.
