I would never have noticed him but for a small twitch of his spotted tail. As he peered down from the tree with piercing yellow eyes, my heart pounded: I'd waited a long time to see a leopard.

Expedition Log: Day 2

The leopard leaps from the ground to a low-standing branch, the antelope still clenched in its jaws. Soon it is perched well above the plain, oblivious to our presence, enjoying a late afternoon feast. With our binoculars, the great cat seems only an arm's length away; with our cameras, we record every instant of this incredible encounter.

Expedition Timeline

Day 1
Johannesburg / Singita Private Game Reserve

Depart Johannesburg for a short flight to Singita Private Game Reserve, and transfer to the posh Singita Boulders Lodge, your base for the next three nights. Set out on an evening game drive, or simply relax and enjoy the surrounding wilderness. A health spa, pool and wine cellar are also at your disposal.

Days 2 - 3
Singita Private Game Reserve

Herds of buffalo and elephant, prides of lion, leopard and antelope inhabit the Singita Private Game Reserve's 45,000 acres, located in the Sabi Sand Reserve. You explore and view game via several options: in an open game-drive vehicle, by safari treks on foot, or by observing from the wooden deck of your private suite.

Day 4
Singita / Johannesburg

Rise early for a final game drive before departing your safari camp. Fly from Singita to Johannesburg for the journey home.
